The Serval's long legs are adapted to hunting in tall grass and reeds. The Serval can reach an amazing height of almost 3 meters by springing vertically from the ground. The Serval makes use of its acute hearing to track down its prey. Description Shoulder height 60cm. Slender body. Yellowish coat marked with black spots and bars. Long legs and short tail. Predators: They are preyed upon by leopards, caracals and jackal. When attacked, they make for the nearest cover - or climb a tree. They only climb trees when in danger. Family Ties: Serval are solitary cats, although a mating pair may hunt together. Kittens spend a long time with the mother. |
