Bontebok |
Unique Features
They were an endangered species but their survival is now assured. Description The bontebok is a subspecies of the blesbok. The main difference is in the brightness of the coloring. The bontebok's coat is darker and the white areas are whiter than those of the blesbok. The lower legs are also white. Predators The large number of both large and medium-sized predators prey on this species. Their main defense against predators is in the safety of the herd. They rest together for safety in numbers and spread out when grazing. Family Ties Bontebok form herds of separate sexes. Some males are territorial and solitary. |
