Unique Features
Impala are slender and graceful and very fast. They can leap 3 meters high and 12 meters far. Impala have scent glands in the skin of their foreheads. Description Impala are a reddish brown in color. Their sides are light brown and their bellies and chest are a pale whitish grey.They have two dark stripes on their buttocks, and one on the tail. Predators Impala are prey to a wide variety of predators such as lion, leopard, eagles and pythons. When alarmed the herd scatters in different directions, leaping and bounding in every direction in order to confuse the predator. Family Ties Impala live in herds of around 20 animals. During the mating season, the males establish territories. The males gathers a group of 15 - 20 females for themselves. During mating season the males make a continual roaring-snorting sound. Juvenile males form bachelor herds. |
