Bushbuck rams are very brave and have been known to kill leopards by goring them with their horns. Bushbuck rams often become dangerous and treacherous in captivity. Description The bushbuck stands 70 - 94cms tall at the shoulder. Only the males have the spiraled, sharp-pointed horns. The color of the Bushbuck varies from chestnut to dark brown to almost black. Bushbuck are most active at night. Their loud, hoarse bark is a common nocturnal sound where these antelope abound. Predators Leopard and wild dogs. When in danger, Bushbuck often hide in reeds or move through water to escape from predators. Family Ties Bushbuck live singly or in pairs and sometimes in small family groups. |
